The
Polish Lowland sheepdog came into the UK at the suggestion of a world
famous all breeds judge, the late Bobby James. The original thoughts of
a new breed had been directed
towards another Pastoral breed but, on Bobby’s investigation when
judging in Europe, attention turned to the Nizinny.
Since the first 6 puppies arrived (4
from one litter and 2 from another) the breed has made steady and
admirable progress, to the extent that it gained Championship status in
1997. Appreciation of early efforts, to
ensure sound healthy stock of various bloodlines, has never diminished,
and now we look to the newer members of the Club to maintain the high
standards set as regards overall health and temperament in order that
that UK stock will be able to meet fairly, the competition that will in
future be greater since the quarantine restrictions have eased. The
Club has always served the breed well and I am confident that its high standards will be maintained in the future.
